Accessible and Sustainable Spiritual Care

Steadfast Center offers spiritual direction on a sliding scale in order to support both accessibility and sustainability.

Many people seeking spiritual direction—pastors, missionaries, nonprofit leaders, caregivers, and others in helping professions—carry significant emotional, spiritual, and financial pressures. At the same time, spiritual direction requires ongoing training, preparation, presence, and long-term vocational sustainability.

Rather than using a one-price-fits-all model, this sliding scale is designed to help individuals and organizations participate at a rate that reflects their current level of financial margin and capacity.

The hope is simple: to make spiritual direction more accessible while also sustaining healthy, grounded ministry over the long term.

No explanation or financial documentation is required to choose a rate.

Individual Spiritual Direction Rates

Sustaining Rate — $125/session

For individuals with meaningful financial margin who desire to support broader access to spiritual direction.

This rate may fit those who:

  • have consistent discretionary income
  • regularly save, invest, or travel recreationally
  • receive reimbursement or ministry funding for spiritual care
  • are supported by a higher-income household

Choosing this rate helps support lower-cost options for others.

Standard Rate — $100/session

Reflects the true cost of offering spiritual direction sustainably.

This rate may fit those who:

  • consistently meet their financial needs
  • have some discretionary income
  • are financially stable, even while budgeting carefully
  • can invest in spiritual direction without significant hardship

Supported Rate — $80/session

For individuals for whom the standard rate would require meaningful sacrifice.

This rate may fit those who:

  • work in lower-paying ministry or nonprofit roles
  • are navigating tighter financial margins
  • carry significant caregiving, educational, or medical expenses
  • need a lower rate in order to participate sustainably

Extra-Supported Rate — $65/session

For individuals experiencing financial constraint or limited access to spiritual care resources.

This rate may fit those who:

  • are support-raised or underemployed
  • are early-career ministry leaders
  • are serving in financially constrained contexts
  • would otherwise be unable to access spiritual direction

Organizational & Ministry Rates

Steadfast Center also partners with churches, nonprofits, ministries, and anti-trafficking organizations seeking to provide spiritual direction or soul care support for staff members.

Organizational sliding scale rates recognize that financial capacity varies widely between ministries. A small church plant, survivor-led nonprofit, or newly established organization may not have the same resources as a larger church or long-established agency.

Organizations are invited to choose the rate that most accurately reflects their current operational capacity, staffing structure, and financial margin.

Custom organizational partnerships, retainers, workshops, and staff care packages are available upon request.

Why a Sliding Scale?

Steadfast Center believes spiritual care should not be reserved only for those with significant financial resources.

At the same time, sustainable ministry requires sustainable support. Historically, Christian communities have supported the work of spiritual care, teaching, and ministry through shared generosity and mutual participation.

This sliding scale reflects that same spirit of mutuality:

  • those with greater financial margin help support broader access
  • those experiencing financial constraint are welcomed without shame
  • everyone is invited to participate honestly and thoughtfully

There is a difference between sacrifice and hardship.

Sometimes investing in spiritual direction may mean giving up a discretionary expense or adjusting priorities for a season. Hardship, however, means sacrificing genuine necessities—such as housing, medication, transportation, or childcare—in order to afford care.

If cost is a barrier, you are welcome to reach out. Steadfast Center occasionally offers additional supported or comped options as capacity allows.
